What is dengue?

A mosquito that pierces the skin and enters the bloodstream, it can leave harmful organisms, thereby causing the disease dengue.
Dengue is one of several diseases transmitted by the bite of mosquito, and is defined as fever caused by the bite of a mosquito (also called break-bone fever).
Symptoms may feel in less than two weeks after the bite, among them are, chills, aches in the head and behind the eyes, severe pain in the joints and high fever.
When developed the disease, leaving a rash and the person is totally exhausted.
With an infection after dengue, can suffer the most severe form of the disease: dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF). This strain causes blood to drain under the capillaries, causing skin and even internal bleeding. Failure to receive proper treatment can go into deep state of shock and suffering circulatory collapse that will lead rapidly to death.
The real cause of this ailment is a virus that infected insect carries in their salivary glands.
It is not known exactly when it was recognized dengue on the global scene. It is likely that the so-called "knee fever" that was reported in Cairo (Egypt) in 1779 is referred to dengue, and that since then there have been cases of this infection worldwide, particularly since the Second World War , With Southeast Asia as a starting point.
The WHO (World Health Organization) said that the first real outbreak of haemorrhagic fever identified in Asia, held in Manila in 1954. After it was followed by countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and neighbouring areas. The mortality rate of these early outbreaks ranged between 10% and 50%, but these rates were declining as they learn more about the disease.
Before 1970, only had DHF epidemics of nine countries, that number for 1995 rose to 41.
Although the disease is not widely known outside the tropics, there have been cases of passengers who have been infected in regions where there is a danger of contracting it and have returned home with the disease.
One of the dangers of DHF is to think that it is not so serious. Many confused with the flu. But if proper treatment is postponed, the disease could worsen in the low platelet count dramatically, triggering bleeding (internal or gums, nose or skin), also falling blood pressure.
One of the main carriers of the dengue virus is a mosquito "Aedes Aegipti", common in the tropics and subtropics.
As the mosquito female lays eggs in water and the larvae can be raised in any container where water accumulates around for a week, abandoned tires, cans, bottles and half-coconut shells, can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Therefore, this bocabajo recommended placing buckets and boats and remove stagnant water in the pipes.
Faced with any suspicion, and without thinking too much, you should consult as rapidly as possible with a physician: Especially those who have already had the disease dengue, and with a second infection is a risk of suffering from DHF, which can cause death in a short time.
